Superior Nutraceuticals claims their EAA"s are fortified. What are fortified Essential Amino Acids?
A: Fortified EAA's are 'essentially' a blend of all of the Essential Amino Acids that are fortified (meaning beefed up) with specific Amino Acids.
When it came time for us to procure a blend we went to our supplier overseas. We found that the standard blend that we're being offered lacked the ratios that we planned for and required for our formulation. Now we were not trying to reinvent anything we just wanted an EAA blend that we felt good about.
We kept noticing that while most EAA blends on the market has more Leucine than the rest of the EAA's which we any reasonable formulator and end user would desire. We felt strongly that it should be at least 40% of the total blend and we found no blends or EAA's that came close. At best they were in the low 30's and this wasn't Superior ;-) enough for us. We also noticed a very high ratios of the 'inexpensive Aminos, such as L-Threonine, L-Lysine (The two cheapest raw Essential Aminos by far). We also noticed a moderate ratio of the middle ranged Aminos in regard to price per gram. And last and definitely not least we found a very low ratios of the higher dollar single Aminos such as L-Histidine and L-Isoleucine.
This ran contrary to what we felt a truly Superior EAA blend should be. We wanted to start with the three BCAA's as the primary components of our blend in a strategic ratio of 4:1:1 with obviously Leucine being primary. And Isoleucine and Valine being equal as they always should be, (and not to cut corners and skimp on the Isoleucine just because it costs twice as much gram for gram than that of Valine).
After we had researched we felt that the Lysine content was also a little higher than it really should be, knowing in our minds it was because it was a good cheap fluffer, as Lysine is the least expensive of the whole blend. We thought this would be the ideal Amino to cut back on it's ratios and leave room for one Amino Acid that we know is too often skimped on mostly due to it being the most expensive of all the single EAA's, and that is L-Histidine. The highest ratios we found in any EAA blend was 5% of the total EAA blend make up. We wanted 100mg per 10 Gram dose which equated to 10% of the total blend and so that is just how we formulated it.
After finalizing our formulation we thought it might be a good idea to see what was available on the real world retail market. The closest thing we could find was a blend sold by Bulk Nutrition. which compared to the rest was a pretty solid blend, however it mostly lacked the Leucine content we desired and had less the half the L-Histidine we were striving for. We found a few other private label blends at smaller retail suppliers, but we found none that compared with the blend we ended up with in our final product. So it would be hard to compare apples to apples so we laid out this chart below.
While 'Servings per container' can be quite deceiving on many labels since some blends out there are made for the beginning user that often prefers taste over content. Thus having 10% and sometimes 20% of inactive ingredient there simply for the taste.

Directions:
As a dietary supplement, take one serving 15-30 minutes prior to intense training. To maximize muscle recovery, take an additional serving immediately following intense training session. On Non-Training Days Take 1 serving prior to your first meal of the day and another serving 6-8 hours later.
